REPRINT AND NEW TITLE! Fixing Firmware Issues with your Sharp Aquos LC-60LE632U

It’s astonishing how consistently inconsistent I’ve been with this blog. If you use the Way Back Machine, you’ll discover the various iterations of this site. Depending on the year, I was hosting on one of several platforms, including Blogger and Squarespace. Although Random IT Guy has had many lives, one thing has remained consistent. The brief article I wrote back in 2012 about updating a Sharp Aquos with the latest firmware has consistently been looked for since I wrote it. Without further ado, here’s my brilliant article from 2012, with some minor edits to make sure it still works. Enjoy!

Original Pulitzer Prize-Winning Content (With Slight Modifications)

I was recently held hostage by my Sharp Aquos LC-60LE632U and firmware update 311U1204061. When I attempted to run the Netflix app, I was told I couldn’t proceed unless I updated the firmware. After 2 attempts to update the firmware via the network, I turned to Google and found that this was a common problem. You’ll need to update the firmware manually via a USB thumb drive to resolve the issue. See the following instructions:

  1. Go to the Sharp USA product download site

  2. After you choose your TV model, download the firmware file

  3. View the rest of the instructions found here

EDIT 06/25/2021: If you’re reading this, I’m sorry to report that the content I initially linked to in 2012 is no longer available. However, if you still have one of these TVs, congrats on purchasing a solid product! In fact, I gave mine to my parents, and it’s still going strong.
